We just got back from our 10 day trip with big bro Jerry and family to Lake Tahoe. The trip was one to remember…we did it all!! Snowboarding, skiing, swimming, hot-tubbing, casino gambling (could have done without that one), and big family sit down dinners in the suite. Upon the end of our Tahoe trip, we decided to tag along with Jerry and Pam down to Yosemite, where we stole one more day in what is truly the most spectacular valley on earth. We felt cheated only having one day for Yosemite, but the visit left an indelible mark that surely draw us back for a longer stay.

Yo bro,

We took in another day at Yosemite Sunday. The weather looked ominous as we left the Comfort Inn. Cars passing heading outbound as we neared the South Gate were covered in snow 2-3 inches. Despite misgivings, we forged ahead and were treated to a spectacular display of Mother Nature. Clouds danced in front of El Capitan and Bridalveil and Half Dome, but Father Sunshine did make an appearance. In typical Barnes explorer fashion, we took a slight detour back to Reno, going north at Placerville towards Auburn and I-80. Little did we know that we would be treated to Sutter’s Mill in Coloma, California, the place where James Marshall discovered gold in 1848. Moreover, we followed the American River for some time, as it engaged in whitewater fun. Following I-80 to Reno, we made it over Donner Pass and through Truckee, having fantastic vistas at every turn. Sadly, the trip had to end. As we left the Atlantis in Reno towards the airport, we reflected on what a great time we had! Cheers to Eric & Stacey and the girlz!

Glad to hear you got a second bite at Yosemite…our time there was too brief! Also hope the Atlantis black-jack tables treated you better than Harrah’s in Tahoe treated us.
