Ballet is to Nathalie what horses are to Mallory….everything. At almost every turn, we find Nathalie doing ballet throughout the house, oftentimes getting up from the dinner table to rip off a quick arabesque or plie. This video was taken last week at Nathalie’s ballet practice.

Yesterday we flew back from Cabo, Mexico via Alaska Airlines to Los Angeles. Many thanks to Troy for keeping our car all week and picking us up! We had an incredible time. Both Mallory and Nathalie got some serious sun after spending the entire week in the pool. Before the trip, Mallory wouldn’t put her face under the water, but by mid-week she was fully swimming under water from side to side. We did absolutely nothing on this vacation except lay out by the pool and meet new friends.
July 4th in Cul-De-Sacville July 6, 2006

Hard to believe this is our 7th year in our little neighborhood and the completion of yet another great cul-de-sac 4th of July. All the infants of 1999 are now becoming big kids, but the moms and dads don’t seem to change with the exception of alchohol tolerance. Old standbys of good food, bouncy houses, and Tom Traylor’s tequila hoof (he doesn’t own the hoof, the hoof owns him – inside joke) were joined by louder speakers (with multiple iPods competing for airtime) and the first organized water fight. Doc Burkhardt treated (or scarred…depending on your point of view) the kids with his 70’s throwback coach’s outfit. All in all, yet another beautiful day in the paradise known as Aliso Viejo.
Disneyland or Bust June 21, 2006

Yesterday I took the day off and the entire clan went to Disneyland before the blackout dates start on our season pass. No matter how many times we've been – and we go a lot – it never ceases to amaze me how many people they can cram in that park! After a late start, we arrived around 11am, took the horse carriage down Main Street (a Mallory favorite), and proceeded over to Frontierland to climb Tarzan's tree house (previously the "Swiss Family Robinson House"). Mallory then joined me on Splash Mountain, which included a doosey of a downhill that didn't agree with her. While I think she really loved the ride, she was a bit scared. We then conquered Thunder Mountain, Autopia (where you drive the cards around the track), and of course hit the petting zoo (a real secret even within Disneyland – when you're sick of the crowds, you can escape to the petting zoo where the humans are sparse; of course you get to smell the ripe aroma of goats).
Stacey and I debated the merits of Disney's recent transition of older rides to newer themes, such as the Robinson's house to Disney's more recent Tarzan animated movie. In fact, Pirates of the Carribean was closed while undergoing a major facelift that will make the ride more like the upcoming movie of same name starring Johnny Depp. This act alone generated a front page news story in yesterday's LA Times. I guess if you're over 30 grew up with the old rides you become a little attached to childhood memories…kinda like your old grade school closing and gettting bull-dozed.
